Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye Quads

Hey everyone! I hope you’re all having a good week so far!

A while back, Kat Von D launched a range of eyeshadow quads based off her widely successful Shade and Light palette. The quads came in four different color schemes and were priced at $26 USD each. They appear to be permanent installments to the KVD line. When they launched, I bought Rust and Sage.

The packaging of these palettes is really good. The outer case is made of sturdy plastic and the compact size makes them excellent for travel. The pans are large, with the Base color larger than the others. I think this is a smart move because that’s the color you’ll use more and will likely hit pan on before the rest, so giving you more of it increases the longevity of using the palette.

The formula of both quads is consistent. Both are very creamy and pigmented. The shadows swatch and apply easily. Of the two, my personal favorite is Rust, but that’s only because the colors suit my skintone better, not the actual quality of the product.

When I get products, I like to compare them to my collection to see what dupes I can find. The Viseart Neutral Matte palette contains some pretty close dupes of the shades in the Rust quad. The base color of the KVD quad is pinker and the brown and white are both a touch warmer, but when it’s actually on the lid, the difference is indiscernable.

Overall, the KVD quads are excellent quality products that are great for travel and perfect for adding a little spice to your collection! The colors of the quads are expertly curated and there is something to flatter every eye color in the line.

Have any of you purchased the KVD quads? What did you think? Let me know in the comments ❤

Valentine’s Day inspired makeup!

valentines day inspired makeup

Hey everyone! I decided to do a glowy, softer look last night in honor of Valentine’s Day! 💖

Face:

  • L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion in N2
  • Sephora Gel Serum Concealer in Meringue
  • Hourglass Mood Exposure & Mood Light
  • Benefit Hoola
  • Sephora Contour Powder in Tranquil
  • Kat Von D Thunderstruck for highlight

Brows:

  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer in Taupe
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel

Eyes:

  • Viseart Neutral Matte Palette
  • Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma
  • Kat Von D Thunderstruck for brow highlight & inner corners
  • Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara

Lips:

  • Pink Velvet by Lime Crime

This was my first time wearing the L’Oreal cushion foundation. It was very lightweight and comfortable, and the coverage was natural and skin-like, but after a few hours I noticed some dry patches became more noticeable. The past week has been bitter cold though, and my skin is absolutely parched, which could have caused the patches to appear.

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! 💕

“Go shawty, it’s ya birthday” Sephora haul!

Hello everyone! My birthday was this past weekend, so naturally I had to do a little Sephora haul to treat myself! 🙂

I was fortunate enough to get a Sephora gift card for my birthday, so between that and the $25 off $50 promo, I was able to do quite a haul!

I bought another May Coop Raw Sauce, since I’m almost out of my current bottle, Viseart’s Neutral Matte palette, KVD Santa Sangre, Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Distortion, Jack Black’s Comfort & Joy set, and my Rouge birthday gift – a NARS pencil duo.

Now, for some swatches! I was really excited to test out the Neutral Matte palette after loving the Dark Matte palette. I think they will work really well together, but the Neutral Matte will also be a great everyday palette as well.

There are a good mix of warm and cool tones in this palette, making it super versatile. The shadows themselves are really pigmented, especially the terracotta and the black! I can see myself creating a lot of looks with this palette for all sorts of occasions.

The NARS pencils (Rikugien and Cruella) are amazing! I love the pigmentation and they’re super creamy to apply. Rikugien is a perfect nude/MLBB lip color for me and I could see it being flattering on a lot of different skintones.

Kat Von D Santa Sangre is a “poison apple” red. It’s bold and warm-toned, but it’s very pigmented and applies beautifully. I’m so excited to wear this out and about during the holidays!

All in all, I consider this a successful birthday haul! What did you all get with your Sephora discount codes?! ❤

Viseart Dark Matte Palette

Hey, everyone! Pretty much everyone and their mother has been lusting over the Viseart palettes for like the past year. At first, I was skeptical of the hype. I’ll admit that. It was hard for me to wrap my head around an $80 eyeshadow palette. I was pretty new to the makeup game and I didn’t see how an eyeshadow formula could be that much better than, say, Urban Decay or MAC.

A few weeks ago, after seeing ample swatches and glowing reviews, I broke down and bought the Dark Matte palette to try out. I chose that palette because I absolutely loved the colors and felt it was the palette that best complemented what I already own.

Look at those colors. The minimal design of the palette. Just… Okay? OOF. So beautiful.

I really love how minimal the packaging design is on this palette. No frills, no excess, no flash. Viseart really lets the quality of their products speak for themselves.

Let’s get on to the formula. The shadows in this palette are all super soft. Some are a bit more buttery than others, but none of them are chalky or excessively dry. They’re very pigmented and easy to work with.

As you can see, I went a little ham and decided to fit the whole palette on one arm. I love all of the colors in this palette. They’re perfect for fall and winter and are great for creating vampy, grungy looks. I’m especially drawn to the oranges and reds, though, because I am a sucker for warm tones! 🙂

The two dark blues were probably the least pigmented of the palette, but even though they are the most difficult to work with, their quality is still better than most mid-end shadow formulas.

If you can swing the price point, you really owe it to yourself to buy one of Viseart’s palettes! I want to purchase more in the future, particularly the Neutral Matte and Bridge Editorial palettes.

Have any of you fallen under Viseart’s spell as well?! Let me know what your favorite palette is in the comments ❤

My Makeup/Skincare Wishlist

Hey everyone! I hope you’ve all had a bomb weekend. I’ve spent the last two days curled up in bed watching Friends on Netflix because I’m sick. 😦 So naturally I haven’t had much of an opportunity to wear makeup, or really do much other than cuddle with my cat, Yung Mollz, browse Instagram, and online shop for more makeup!

I’ve compiled a wishlist of what I want to buy in the next couple months. Luckily, with the Sephora sale in November and my birthday in December (already requesting Sephora gift cards!), I can get the things I want without making my wallet cry too much!

Viseart Dark Matte Palette. LAWD, those colors! I am a sucker for warm neutrals and burnt oranges. I’ve heard such good things about Viseart’s quality from a variety of bloggers & vloggers around the interwebz, but Jaclyn Hill’s Sephora Haul video pushed me over the edge! The swatches were so pigmented that I decided this was the next thing to buy!

fresh seaberry nutrition booster

Fresh Seaberry Skin Nutrition Booster. This oil is described as “an antioxidant-rich booster of concentrated oils and extracts specifically designed to be mixed with face and eye creams for amplified protection and nourishment.” I’ve been working through a large sample of this oil and I am pretty impressed with it! A couple drops mixed in with my moisturizer keeps my skin more hydrated throughout the day. I will be buying a full-size of this when I’m done with the rest of this sample.

kat von d studded kiss lipstick solo

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Solo. This color is described as a “metallic gold-kissed tangerine.” I think it’s such a beautiful color that is flattering on a lot of different skintones. I’ve also heard that KVD’s reworked the formula for these new shades, making them creamier and long-wearing.

hourglass ambient lighting powder ethereal light

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light. I love the texture of the ALPs. They’re so finely milled and do a great job of blurring imperfections. I actually use Mood Light as a light, glowy blush! I want to use Ethereal Light to set my undereye area to brighten it up a bit. I have super dry skin, so I’m always chasing the glow.

boscia sake treatment water

Boscia Sake Treatment Water. I love love love everything by Boscia, so when I saw this at Sephora, I had to get a sample to try it out. You would use this after cleansing and toning, before your serum. I used this every morning for a couple weeks and I did notice a difference in how soft my skin was!

Thanks for reading! Let me know what you think of these products, and what you have on your own wishlist! ❤
