PRIDE 🏳️‍🌈

Hey, everyone! Happy Pride Month! The start of this month really inspired me to break out my bright colors, get creative, and create a look to celebrate the movement! I had so much fun creating this look, and I may be posting more Pride-inspired looks before the month is over!

Greed – 7 deadly sins FOTD

This is a look I did in collaboration with a few other beauty bloggers/enthusiasts. Our theme was the 7 deadly sins. I chose to do Greed. ✨

For this look, I knew I wanted to incorporate gold glitter. But I also wanted to use a lot of products to really get into a mindset of greed and make this look truly excessive. Here’s what I used!

  • Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix Foundation Stick

  • Sephora Contour Powder in Tranquil
  • Becca Cosmetics x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Glow Face Palette – Prosecco Pop

  • Wet N Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder in Precious Petals (yes, I stacked 3 highlighters to get that glow!)
  • NARS blush in Orgasm
  • Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel cream bronzer

Lips:

  • Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Gemini
  • Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Midnight Cowboy

First impressions: I used several products for the first time with this look. I’ll just list them out with mini-reviews:

  • Morphe 35O Palette. I’ve had this for a long time but other than playing around with it when I first got it, I never really reach for it. Now that I’ve used it for a whole eye look, I don’t know why I haven’t! The mattes blended beautifully and the dark gold metallic shade I used for a lid base applied smoothly and I didn’t need to use Fix+ to make it pop like with other metallics.
  • Wet N Wild MegaGlo Highlighter. I was lucky enough to find both shades on eBay for a decent price, but you guys seriously need them. I’m sure literally every other blogger has told you that, but if you can find them, buy them immediately! Precious Petals is such a beautiful color.
  • Sleek Solstice Palette. I bought this because of Jaclyn Hill’s mini Snapchat review and I have no ragrets. It comes with 4 different colors, but because it’s less than $20, I felt comfortable buying it just for the shade Equinox. That’s the crown jewel of this palette for sure. I’ve never seen a highlighter before that was so glowy and just BAM when you apply it!
  • Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Gemini. This is the first Jeffree Star liquid lipstick that I’ve bought in a while. While I’m not sure how I feel about the rootbeer float scent, the formula is still amazing and I think the color is so flattering.
  • RCMA No Color Loose Powder. I purchased this after hearing so many rave reviews about it, but I think I’m still partial to Laura Mercier’s Translucent Powder more. This one did the job, and the price is definitely right, but I feel like it just sucked what little moisture was to be had out of my undereyes.
  • Anastasia Cream Contour Kit in Fair. This was given to me by a friend. I have to say that I was underwhelmed by the formula of the creams. I expected them to be easier to work with. Luckily, I’d watched Miss Jazmina D work with hers enough on Snapchat and learned that you could apply it under your foundation. I did that and found that I liked how it looked much better that way. It was still tough to blend out at parts, but at least I didn’t have to worry about messing up my foundation while doing it. I’ll probably continue to use this kit, but only for nights out or when I have a lot of time to dedicate to my makeup.

Have you guys used any of these products too? What were your faves/flops? Be sure to follow me on Bloglovin! ❤

Ulta haul!

Hey everyone! I got these products over the last month or so using gift cards from my birthday and Christmas. I picked up some old things, some new things, some makeup and skincare!

Here’s everything that I got:

  • OGX Tsubaki Blossom Shampoo – This is a repurchase. I switched to the OGX line after the Herbal Essences Colorstay Shampoo I had been using started breaking my scalp out. The Tsubaki Blossom is definitely my favorite! It makes my hair super soft and smells amazing.
  • Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water – This was an impulse purchase that I saw when I was standing in the checkout line. Omg. Best impulse buy ever. It’s so gentle and removes makeup effortlessly. I can remove my whole face using only 2 cotton rounds, and with micellar water, you don’t even have to rinse! It’s extremely gentle and my face doesn’t feel irritated or tight after I use it. I definitely recommend it.
  • Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation – This is a new product that Maybelline recently released. I’ve never been into matte foundations, but the fact that it was matte and hydrating piqued my interest. The shade I picked, 10 Porcelain Ivory, was a touch too pink. I’m not completely sold on matte foundation yet, but this formula didn’t feel drying, which made me really happy. I’m going to continue to play with this and see if it mixes well with other foundations.
  • Laura Gellar Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Gilded Honey – I wanted to love this product so much, as it’s a cult favorite among makeup enthusiasts. It was a bit too dark for my liking though. I ended up returning it before I took the swatch pictures below.
  • Urban Decay Tonic eyeshadow single – I’ve been wanting this eyeshadow for months, but it’s been sold out online or in-stores every time I’ve tried to buy it. I managed to snag the last one when I was in Ulta last time, and I’m pumped about it! It’s such a beautiful lavender color with a blue duochrome shift.
  • Becca Moonstone – I love this highlighter. It’s a lovely white gold color that can give you a soft glow or be built up to highlight on fleek levels. Becca’s formula is unparalleled, too. Their pressed highlighters are so finely milled and creamy, which make them really easy to work with.
  • Anastasia Self-Made palette – This is a great palette overall. It has a great mix of neutrals with brighter colors. The eyeshadow formula is very pigmented and buttery, but Spirit Rock and Pink Champagne are a little chalky. All shadows swatch well with minimal fallout.

Swatches & First Impressions – Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette

Hey everyone! The Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani collab has been highly anticipated since it was announced earlier this year. This eyeshadow palette is the first release of the collaboration, with lipsticks and a blush palette to follow in 2016.

urban decay gwen stefani

Urban Decay always does a great job with the packaging of their products, but they really knocked it out of the park with this release. The palette’s metal frame feels both sturdy and luxe, and the combination of gold, black, and white reminds me a lot of the art deco style of the 1920s.

I have to admit, when the shades of this palette were first revealed, I was a little skeptical of whether I would like this palette or not. Given Gwen’s wild style in the 90’s and during her harajuku phase, I expected a lot of bright colors and innovative color schemes. Instead, the palette is almost all nudes/neutrals with only a few brights included.

At first, I was let down, but after doing a little research I realized that Gwen’s trademark look was neutral shadows, eyeliner, and a red lip. Occasionally she would do a pop of color like a baby blue lid, but for the most part, she kept her look pretty consistent and simple.

I own other Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes, so I am familiar with their shadow formula. This palette’s formula is consistent with the Naked and Naked Basics palettes, which have a pretty buttery consistency, making them soft and easy to blend out. There are matte, shimmer, and glitter shades in this palette as well, which is also typical for a Naked palette.

Now, onto swatches!

As you can see, the shadows apply smoothly and are generally pretty pigmented. None of the shades are what I could call a glitter bomb, but Pop, Harajuku, and Danger have medium to large chunks of glitter in them while the other non-matte shades have a pearlescent sheen to them.

This color range is wide enough for me to be able to do a complete eye look using only this palette, which is always a plus.

The main drawback to this palette is the size for the price ($58 USD). While this palette does have 15 shadows instead of 12 like all the large Naked palettes do, the total shadow weight is the same, so you’re actually getting less product per color. The palette is also a lot smaller than a regular Naked palette, so the $4 price difference doesn’t make much sense to me.

Aside from that, this is really nice palette with quality that is consistent with the rest of the Urban Decay line. Those with large palette collections would likely not need this palette, as many of the shades are dupeable. But for those with a small palette collection, just starting out, or are just looking for a neutral palette containing a couple brights to try them out, this palette would be a good choice for you.

Do any of you own this palette? What did you think of it? Let me know in the comments! ❤
