Hey everyone! I hope you all had fabulous weekends and enjoyed the first day of Spring.
Primers can make or break how your foundation looks. They can give you a matte or dewy finish, color correct, blur pores, give luminosity, and many other effects. I have compiled a list of my favorite primers at four different price points. Since I have dry skin, these primers are all hydrating to keep flaky patches at bay.
- Nivea Men Post Shave Balm (Sensitive)—$5. This product was first hailed by NikkieTutorials as a miracle product that both hydrates and keeps your makeup on all day. It smells like man (think Old Spice), but I personally love that scent. I’ve found that this greatly improves the lasting power of my makeup and gives my skin that little boost of hydration that it needs. I’ve also found that this is able to be used with other primers without issue. Plus, you get over 3 ounces of product for $5-6, depending on where you buy it. That’s a spectacular deal for even the most budget-conscious makeup addict!
- NYX Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer—$16. This primer is a pretty spot-on dupe for the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer. Angel Veil is a great product if you’re looking for a smoothing primer to cover texture or acne scarring, that also feels light on the skin.
- Becca Cosmetics Backlight Priming Filter—$38. This primer lives up to the name. It is an excellent primer that gives your skin luminosity and a nice, dewy finish, while also blurring pores and any imperfections. This primer is perfect for when your skin is tired and you want it to look healthy and awake. It also smells amazing, like coconut!
- YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer—$52. This primer is one of my favorites. It costs a pretty penny, but its effects make it so worth it. It’s a very silicone-y primer, which means it flawlessly blurs large pores, fills in fine lines, and minimizes the appearance of any texture on the skin. It isn’t necessarily hydrating, but it doesn’t dry out my skin. The high level of silicones in the formula acts as a barrier to lock moisture into my skin. It smells similar to Guerlain products, like violets. To me, the smell is very luxurious. I can use this primer alone or apply it on my T-zone and cheeks over the Nivea Men’s Post-Shave Balm and it’s the perfect combination!
Do you guys have any primer recommendations for me? I’m always looking for new stuff to try out! Let me know in the comments below ❤
Hey everyone! I recently got some of NYX Cosmetics’ new Lip Lingerie liquid lipsticks to test out.
The Lip Lingeries are not NYX’s first foray into liquid lipsticks, but they’re by far the best. The Soft Matte Lip Creams were pigmented but had no lasting power and the Liquid Suedes never dried down. The Lip Lingeries, however, are much better. They dry matte to a transfer-proof finish. There are currently 12 shades in the collection, most of which are nudes. I bought 6 of them to try out.
I really wanted to test the range of the collection, so I picked a selection of shades ranging from light to dark. Although 2 of the shades aren’t nudes for me, this collection is definitely WOC friendly and appeals to a wide range of skintones.
Satin Ribbon is the lightest shade and is the first very pale true nude that I’ve found that isn’t extremely orange on me. Baby Doll is almost as light, but is definitely a traditional pinky nude that pulls orange with my skintone. Bedtime Flirt is a nice, pinky midtone nude that is a perfect MLBB shade. Embellishment is a lavender-nude that reminds me a lot of Lime Crime Faded. Although it’s an unnatural shade, it’s extremely wearable. Exotic is a muted, warm red. It is a subtle red that is only slightly darker than my natural lip color. It reminds me a lot of Colourpop Bumble or Tulle. Beauty Mark is a chocolate brown that is slightly redder than most other brown lipsticks that are popular right now.
The formula for the Lip Lingeries is really comfortable. It’s very moussey and easy to apply. Like most liquid lipsticks, it dries down matte. But unlike most liquid lipsticks, you can layer it, which is great for touch ups as you wear it. Although overall there were no problems with the formula, Satin Ribbon and Beauty Mark were both a little streaky upon application and required extra layers to make them even.
Overall, I think the Lip Lingeries are a really good liquid lipstick line, especially for the price! If you’re looking for a good nude lipstick, I would definitely check this line because there are so many to choose from!
