Hey, everyone! Happy Pride Month! The start of this month really inspired me to break out my bright colors, get creative, and create a look to celebrate the movement! I had so much fun creating this look, and I may be posting more Pride-inspired looks before the month is over!

Hey guys!

I have been absolutely in love with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture palette lately 😍 I attempted my first halo eye with it for a night out, and it inspired me to go for a total vampy grunge look.

Base: Fenty Beauty primer and foundation in shade #120, Tarte Shape Tape concealer, Marc Jacobs Beauty O!mega bronzer, NARS Orgasm blush

Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz (in Taupe and Medium Brown) and clear Brow Gel

Glow: Becca Cosmetics x Jaclyn Hill highlighter in Champagne Pop

Lips: Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in Trust Issues

I have seen some Youtubers say that they’ve had issue with blending out the colors in Subculture. I made sure to use a very light hand when applying and blending colors and being careful not to overblend.

Greed – 7 deadly sins FOTD

This is a look I did in collaboration with a few other beauty bloggers/enthusiasts. Our theme was the 7 deadly sins. I chose to do Greed. ✨

7 deadly sins greed makeup

7 deadly sins greed makeup gold glitter

For this look, I knew I wanted to incorporate gold glitter. But I also wanted to use a lot of products to really get into a mindset of greed and make this look truly excessive. Here’s what I used!

products used for greed makeup

Face:

  • Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in N115
  • Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix Foundation Stick
  • Sephora Bright Future green color corrector & Gel Serum Concealer in Meringue
  • NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Kit in Fair (not pictured)
  • Sephora Contour Powder in Tranquil
  • Becca Cosmetics x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Glow Face Palette – Prosecco Pop
  • Sleek Makeup Solstice Highlighting Palette – Equinox
  • Wet N Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder in Precious Petals (yes, I stacked 3 highlighters to get that glow!)
  • NARS blush in Orgasm
  • Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel cream bronzer
  • RCMA No Color Loose Powder (not pictured)

Brows:

  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Taupe
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel

Eyes:

  • Morphe 35O Palette
  • Equinox from Sleek Makeup Palette for inner corner highlight
  • Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Midnight Cowboy
  • Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara (THE BEST mascara. New fave!)

Lips:

  • Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Gemini
  • Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Midnight Cowboy

First impressions: I used several products for the first time with this look. I’ll just list them out with mini-reviews:

  • Morphe 35O Palette. I’ve had this for a long time but other than playing around with it when I first got it, I never really reach for it. Now that I’ve used it for a whole eye look, I don’t know why I haven’t! The mattes blended beautifully and the dark gold metallic shade I used for a lid base applied smoothly and I didn’t need to use Fix+ to make it pop like with other metallics.
  • Wet N Wild MegaGlo Highlighter. I was lucky enough to find both shades on eBay for a decent price, but you guys seriously need them. I’m sure literally every other blogger has told you that, but if you can find them, buy them immediately! Precious Petals is such a beautiful color.
  • Sleek Solstice Palette. I bought this because of Jaclyn Hill’s mini Snapchat review and I have no ragrets. It comes with 4 different colors, but because it’s less than $20, I felt comfortable buying it just for the shade Equinox. That’s the crown jewel of this palette for sure. I’ve never seen a highlighter before that was so glowy and just BAM when you apply it!
  • Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Gemini. This is the first Jeffree Star liquid lipstick that I’ve bought in a while. While I’m not sure how I feel about the rootbeer float scent, the formula is still amazing and I think the color is so flattering.
  • RCMA No Color Loose Powder. I purchased this after hearing so many rave reviews about it, but I think I’m still partial to Laura Mercier’s Translucent Powder more. This one did the job, and the price is definitely right, but I feel like it just sucked what little moisture was to be had out of my undereyes.
  • Anastasia Cream Contour Kit in Fair. This was given to me by a friend. I have to say that I was underwhelmed by the formula of the creams. I expected them to be easier to work with. Luckily, I’d watched Miss Jazmina D work with hers enough on Snapchat and learned that you could apply it under your foundation. I did that and found that I liked how it looked much better that way. It was still tough to blend out at parts, but at least I didn’t have to worry about messing up my foundation while doing it. I’ll probably continue to use this kit, but only for nights out or when I have a lot of time to dedicate to my makeup.

Have you guys used any of these products too? What were your faves/flops? Be sure to follow me on Bloglovin! ❤

Pat McGrath Skin Fetish 003 Review & Dupe Test!

Hey everyone! Today I’ve got a special (and slightly lengthy) post for you all. Pat McGrath’s new Skin Fetish 003 sets, like her previous releases, have been taking the makeup community by storm. The set contains a cream highlight and balm stick, a stippling brush, and a pressed pigment highlighter for $72 USD. The sets come in two different shades—Golden and Nude (shown below).

In this post, I’m going to be reviewing the Skin Fetish set and also reviewing two dupes—the Makeup Revolution Ultra Strobe Balm in Euphoria and NARS Cassiopeia.

Pat McGrath Skin Fetish 003. First things first, the packaging for this is beautiful but not the most user-friendly. In order to keep everything contained (in case of a return) I had to store the bag and sequins inside of a Ziploc bag because they got everywhere if I didn’t. The packaging of the pressed pigment and balm/highlighter stick is functional but looks a little cheap for the high price tag. I noticed some air bubbles under the label on the stick and also under the label on the brush. The brush was nice, with soft bristles and a sturdy handle, but the fact that there was a sticker label on it made it look very cheap also. The packaging of the pressed pigment is sturdy but, like the other products, is very basic and looks cheap.

Now let’s talk performance. All 3 products from the Skin Fetish package performed nicely. The brush was soft and worked with both the cream and pressed pigment. The highlighter and balm were both creamy and applied evenly. The pressed pigment had a dry formula but was very pigmented and applied smoothly over bare skin and well over the cream products. I did have some issues with “stacking” the products on my skin, AKA using them the way they were intended to be. I have severely dry skin, so when I tried to apply the cream highlighter over my foundation, it did not cooperate with my skin. Applying the highlighter with the brush and a stippling motion helped, but when blending the pressed pigment over top of it, it caused my foundation to break up more. However, I’m inclined to believe this is due to the fact that I have severely dry skin, not because the formula is lacking. When I applied the pressed pigment just over foundation, I had no issues at all.

In short, the Pat McGrath Skin Fetish is a collection of well-formulated, nicely performing products. I think for $72, the packaging of the products has a lot of issues that could be improved, but the formulas themselves are awesome. I wish the products were sold separately because buying the pressed pigment separately would be perfect for me.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Strobe Balm in Euphoric. The Ultra Strobe Balm is a cream highlighter available at Ulta. The price is $9, much better than the Pat McGrath collection! The Strobe Balm is the closest color dupe I’ve found to the Skin Fetish pressed pigment.

mur-vs-pat-pigment

However, the formula leaves a lot to be desired. It’s an extremely dry balm that bunches up when swatching on your fingers, but it applies decently over bare skin. I tried applying Kat Von D’s Thunderstruck eyeshadow on top also, but Thunderstruck proved much too warm to be a true dupe for the Skin Fetish highlight.

mur-thunderstruck

When I applied the MUR Ultra Strobe Balm over my foundation, it was extremely hard to work with. I tried to apply it straight from the pan with the Pat McGrath brush and it was hard to get even pigmentation as well as a sheen. After reading some tips on Reddit, I tried swirling a drop of water around the pan and applying it with my finger, but it caused my foundation to lift up and become patchy. As a Hail Mary, I wiped my cheek off, reapplied my base, then tried the Ultra Strobe Balm with a droplet of Drunk Elephant’s Virgin Marula Oil. It caused my foundation to break up extremely badly, so I gave up.

mur-balm-only

The Makeup Revolution Ultra Strobe Balm formula leaves a lot to be desired but like the Pat McGrath highlighter & balm, I can attribute part of my issues to my super dry skin. I feel like someone with normal or oily skin would not have nearly as many troubles applying this.

pat-nars-pans

NARS Cassiopeia. Cassiopeia was my last attempt at finding a good dupe for the Pat McGrath pressed pigment! I searched the internet high and low and just decided to take a chance on this eyeshadow. At $29, it’s pricier than the Ultra Strobe Balm, but significantly more wallet-friendly than Skin Fetish.

pat mcgrath skin fetish dupe nars cassiopeia

It arrived in the mail today and I compared the two shortly after I got home from work. In swatches, the two look slightly different—Cassiopeia is a little more cool-toned. But I think the difference is minute when applied to the face. It takes a little more product for Cassiopeia to build up to the same intensity, but I’m very happy with how it looks and consider this the ultimate winner!

I hope you guys enjoyed this super long post and found it helpful in your decision about whether or not to buy Pat McGrath’s Skin Fetish 003 or either of the dupes mentioned above! Have you found any others? Let me know in the comments below ❤

Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip Set

Hey everyone! The Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip Set is a limited edition Sephora exclusive set that compiles five different nude lip products from different brands to give you all the options to create a perfect nude lip!

sephora favorites give me some nude lip set

The Give Me Some Nude Lip Set contains:

  • Mini-size Marc Jacobs Beauty Mini (P)Outliner Longwear Lip Pencil in Prim(Rose)
  • Full-size NARS Lipstick in Dolce Vita
  • Mini-size Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lipstick in Milky Way
  • Full-size NUDESTIX Lip + Cheek Crayon in Whisper
  • Mini-size Tarte Deluxe Tarteist Lip Paint in Namaste Nude

nude lipstick swatches sephora favorites give me some nude lip marc jacobs tarte nars nudestix laura mercier

As you can see, the Give Me Some Nude Lip Set offers nude lip products in a variety of undertones and finishes. Since each product is so different, I’ll give each a brief review:

  • Marc Jacobs (P)Outliner in Prim(Rose): Undoubtedly my favorite piece in the set. The lip liner is very creamy, applied smoothly, and the shade was extremely flattering for my skintone. It’s actually very similar to my natural lip color, so it’s great for no-makeup-makeup or work-appropriate looks!
  • Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint in Namaste: Namaste is a warm nude liquid lipstick. The formula is light and mousse-y and applies evenly. The color is pretty flattering and doesn’t pull too orange, a common problem with warm nudes for me. The only drawback is that the formula does not really set, so this liquid lipstick is not transfer-free.
  • Nudestix Lip + Cheek Crayon in Whisper: Whisper is a midtone nude pencil. This is the first Nudestix product I’ve ever tried and I’m impressed with the formula. It’s very pigmented without being chalky or drying. The color is not particularly flattering on me, but I would definitely use this product in another color.
  • NARS Dolce Vita: This is a sheer, rosy nude lipstick. I own the Velvet Matte version of Dolce Vita and was surprised that the lipstick version was so sheer. The finish is slightly dewy when applied, but the formula is very comfortable and provides an even wash of color over the lips.
  • Laura Mercier Lipstick in Milky Way: Milky Way is a brown nude lipstick with a cream finish. It’s very pigmented but the formula felt very thick on my lips. The color was not flattering on me at all, unfortunately, because it washed me out really badly!

Overall, I think the Give Me Some Nude Lip Set is a great value for people who are looking to explore the nude lip trend to see what colors are right for them. I think it would be rare for all five products to work for a single person, so there would likely be some that go unused. For someone that dislikes clutter, that could be a dealbreaker. Since the only product I truly liked was the Marc Jacobs liner, I believe my money would be better spent on a full-size version of that rather than this set.

Do any of you have this set? Which were your favorites? Let me know in the comments! ❤

“Go shawty, it’s ya birthday” Sephora haul!

Hello everyone! My birthday was this past weekend, so naturally I had to do a little Sephora haul to treat myself! 🙂

I was fortunate enough to get a Sephora gift card for my birthday, so between that and the $25 off $50 promo, I was able to do quite a haul!

viseart palette asian beauty sephora haul

I bought another May Coop Raw Sauce, since I’m almost out of my current bottle, Viseart’s Neutral Matte palette, KVD Santa Sangre, Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Distortion, Jack Black’s Comfort & Joy set, and my Rouge birthday gift – a NARS pencil duo.

Now, for some swatches! I was really excited to test out the Neutral Matte palette after loving the Dark Matte palette. I think they will work really well together, but the Neutral Matte will also be a great everyday palette as well.

viseart neutral matte palette swatches

There are a good mix of warm and cool tones in this palette, making it super versatile. The shadows themselves are really pigmented, especially the terracotta and the black! I can see myself creating a lot of looks with this palette for all sorts of occasions.

nars and kat von d santa sangre swatches

The NARS pencils (Rikugien and Cruella) are amazing! I love the pigmentation and they’re super creamy to apply. Rikugien is a perfect nude/MLBB lip color for me and I could see it being flattering on a lot of different skintones.

Kat Von D Santa Sangre is a “poison apple” red. It’s bold and warm-toned, but it’s very pigmented and applies beautifully. I’m so excited to wear this out and about during the holidays!

All in all, I consider this a successful birthday haul! What did you all get with your Sephora discount codes?! ❤
