Hey guys!

I have been absolutely in love with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture palette lately 😍 I attempted my first halo eye with it for a night out, and it inspired me to go for a total vampy grunge look.

Base: Fenty Beauty primer and foundation in shade #120, Tarte Shape Tape concealer, Marc Jacobs Beauty O!mega bronzer, NARS Orgasm blush

Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz (in Taupe and Medium Brown) and clear Brow Gel

Glow: Becca Cosmetics x Jaclyn Hill highlighter in Champagne Pop

I have seen some Youtubers say that they’ve had issue with blending out the colors in Subculture. I made sure to use a very light hand when applying and blending colors and being careful not to overblend.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette & Sun Dipped Glow Kit

Hey everyone! I hope you’re all having a bomb week. Today I have a couple recent releases by Anastasia Beverly Hills to review for you: the Modern Renaissance Palette and the Sun Dipped Glow Kit.

Both items were released a couple months ago on the ABH website, so naturally I had to snap them right up to try out! Modern Renaissance is ABH’s first permanent eyeshadow palette and Sun Dipped is the third installment of their Glow Kit collection. To my knowledge, Sun Dipped isn’t permanent, but since Gleam and That Glow are both still in stock I expect it to be around for quite a while.

Modern Renaissance is a 14-pan eyeshadow palette that was inspired by Renaissance art. Being an art major and earning a minor in Art History in college, I was super excited when I heard about the concept behind this palette because I loved studying Renaissance art!

The pans in Modern Renaissance are a bit larger than those in other ABH palettes but only contain about 7g of product each. This palette boasts lots of warm neutrals and red/orange shades. All shades but 2 are matte, which I like because I am a big fan of all-matte eye looks! The concept behind the palette matches the colors of the eyeshadows perfectly. All shades are creamy and pigmented. They all swatched and applied smoothly. I think the formulation of this palette is ABH’s best yet!

This palette feels incredibly versatile. I think it will work for summer, fall, winter, and even spring! This palette would also be a great dupe for Lime Crime’s Venus Palette, if you don’t wish to support the company.

Overall, I think Modern Renaissance is one of ABH’s best palette releases ever! The formula, color selection, packaging, price… It’s all A1. I also really like that it’s a permanent addition to the collection so no one has to miss out on it! There is so much hype generated these days and it’s nice for a company to look out for its customers.

The Sun Dipped Glow Kit contains four 0.26oz powders, which comes out to just over 1 full ounce of product. I’ve also reviewed the Gleam Kit so I won’t re-iterate about the formula, pigmentation, or packaging, as it’s largely the same.

I think Sun Dipped does a much better job of catering to all skintones than other kits made by ABH due to the wide variety of shades and differing undertones. It really warms my heart that ABH makes such a great range of highlighters because many don’t make anything as dark as Bronzed or as light as pans from other Glow Kits! My favorite shade from this palette, though, is Tourmaline. It’s such a beautiful mauve color with champagne reflects. I think it is best on medium skintones but I think it’s formulated in such a way that both light and deep skintones could also wear it well.

Overall, Sun Dipped is an excellent Glow Kit offering from Anastasia Beverly Hills. The colors are beautiful, the formula is there, and it flatters all skintones. For $40, you can’t beat a kit like this! It would be a great addition to any collection.

What do you guys think of these products? Have you tried Sun Dipped or Modern Renaissance? Let me know in the comments below ❤

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lustrous Lip Gloss Set

Hey guys! As you guys know, I am a diehard fan of matte lips. I typically hate wearing lip gloss and avoid it at all costs. However, this season I’ve been seeing a lot of cute looks online that incorporate a glossy lip! So I started wondering… Am I missing out?

I saw that this Lustrous Lip Gloss Set by Anastasia Beverly Hills was on sale at Macy’s for only $20 (original price: $40), so I figured why not give it a go? I have seen many good things about Anastasia’s lip gloss collection and I decided that if I was going to delve into the world of lip glosses, I wanted to start with a range that was highly rated.

anastasia beverly hills lustrous lip gloss set

The Lustrous Lip Gloss Set contains eight different shades, ranging from sheer shimmers to creamy, vampy shades. Each gloss smells like cake batter and comes with a flat, rounded applicator. The applicator makes it easy to get a smooth line and an even coat, which keeps it from looking goopy on the lips.

anastasia beverly hills lip gloss swatches gilded dainty sunset strip metallic rose weekend barbie date night socialite black cherry

Most of the shades in the set applied very well including Black Cherry, which I was skeptical about due to its intense pigmentation. Gilded and Metallic Rose are the two standout shades, in my opinion, as they are both really unique, flattering, and could transform any lip color/lip liner you paired them with. I decided I prefer the shimmer glosses over the solid color creams, but that is just personal preference on my part.

None of these glosses were sticky, feathered, or broke up during wear. This set is a fantastic deal, both at the $20 sale price or at the $40 retail price. I am extremely impressed with the longevity these glosses have and I really want to try more from the ABH range!

Who else is feeling glossy lips this summer? What are some of your favorites? ❤

Greed – 7 deadly sins FOTD

This is a look I did in collaboration with a few other beauty bloggers/enthusiasts. Our theme was the 7 deadly sins. I chose to do Greed. ✨

7 deadly sins greed makeup

7 deadly sins greed makeup gold glitter

gold glitter lips jeffree star gemini

For this look, I knew I wanted to incorporate gold glitter. But I also wanted to use a lot of products to really get into a mindset of greed and make this look truly excessive. Here’s what I used!

products used for greed makeup

Face:

  • Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in N115
  • Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix Foundation Stick
  • Sephora Bright Future green color corrector & Gel Serum Concealer in Meringue
  • NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Kit in Fair (not pictured)
  • Sephora Contour Powder in Tranquil
  • Becca Cosmetics x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Glow Face Palette – Prosecco Pop
  • Sleek Makeup Solstice Highlighting Palette – Equinox
  • Wet N Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder in Precious Petals (yes, I stacked 3 highlighters to get that glow!)
  • NARS blush in Orgasm
  • Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel cream bronzer
  • RCMA No Color Loose Powder (not pictured)

Brows:

  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Taupe
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel

Eyes:

  • Morphe 35O Palette
  • Equinox from Sleek Makeup Palette for inner corner highlight
  • Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Midnight Cowboy
  • Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara (THE BEST mascara. New fave!)

Lips:

  • Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Gemini
  • Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Midnight Cowboy

First impressions: I used several products for the first time with this look. I’ll just list them out with mini-reviews:

  • Morphe 35O Palette. I’ve had this for a long time but other than playing around with it when I first got it, I never really reach for it. Now that I’ve used it for a whole eye look, I don’t know why I haven’t! The mattes blended beautifully and the dark gold metallic shade I used for a lid base applied smoothly and I didn’t need to use Fix+ to make it pop like with other metallics.
  • Wet N Wild MegaGlo Highlighter. I was lucky enough to find both shades on eBay for a decent price, but you guys seriously need them. I’m sure literally every other blogger has told you that, but if you can find them, buy them immediately! Precious Petals is such a beautiful color.
  • Sleek Solstice Palette. I bought this because of Jaclyn Hill’s mini Snapchat review and I have no ragrets. It comes with 4 different colors, but because it’s less than $20, I felt comfortable buying it just for the shade Equinox. That’s the crown jewel of this palette for sure. I’ve never seen a highlighter before that was so glowy and just BAM when you apply it!
  • Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Gemini. This is the first Jeffree Star liquid lipstick that I’ve bought in a while. While I’m not sure how I feel about the rootbeer float scent, the formula is still amazing and I think the color is so flattering.
  • RCMA No Color Loose Powder. I purchased this after hearing so many rave reviews about it, but I think I’m still partial to Laura Mercier’s Translucent Powder more. This one did the job, and the price is definitely right, but I feel like it just sucked what little moisture was to be had out of my undereyes.
  • Anastasia Cream Contour Kit in Fair. This was given to me by a friend. I have to say that I was underwhelmed by the formula of the creams. I expected them to be easier to work with. Luckily, I’d watched Miss Jazmina D work with hers enough on Snapchat and learned that you could apply it under your foundation. I did that and found that I liked how it looked much better that way. It was still tough to blend out at parts, but at least I didn’t have to worry about messing up my foundation while doing it. I’ll probably continue to use this kit, but only for nights out or when I have a lot of time to dedicate to my makeup.

Have you guys used any of these products too? What were your faves/flops? Be sure to follow me on Bloglovin! ❤

April Favorites!

Hello, everyone! Another month is in the books once again. I can’t believe it’s already May. 2016 is flying right by!

april favorites too faced drunk elephant anastasia beverly hills tom ford chanel mario badescue sleek makeup

This month I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to try several new makeup and skincare products. While most of them were awesome, these are the few that were at the top of my list.

  1. Tom Ford Bicoastal Sheer Cheek Duo. I purchased this on a whim from Nordstrom. I wanted to try the TF Soleil Contouring Compact, but since it was sold out, I decided to order this instead. I was really wowed by the quality when I received it! The colors are sheer, but I was impressed by the even pigmentation and how easily I could achieve the perfect springtime glow using these colors. The pans are narrow, but I’ve found that when using my MAC 135 brush, I can apply just one color with ease. Or both, if I would choose.
  2. Sleek Makeup Solstice Highlighting Palette. Like many people, I first heard of this product via Jaclyn Hill’s snapchat. Her highlight was so intense that I had to have this palette, especially after I saw the price! The palette is just under $15 for 4 highlighters—one cream and three powders. All four colors are very glowy and have an excellent formula. I love that the colors in this palette are all so different. It’s rare that you would get purple, yellow, AND gold highlighters all in one palette, but Sleek has done it. I received my palette in a little over a week, which I thought was relatively fast for international travel.
  3. Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum. Where to begin with this amazing product! I first saw Drunk Elephant in my local Sephora several months ago. I was attracted by the packaging, but the high price tag gave me pause. Over the past few months, I have seen a lot of beauty bloggers talking about DE’s skincare line and raving about the quality. After hearing KathleenLights’ review of the Glycolic Night Serum, I knew I had to try it. Having super dry skin, exfoliation is essential because flaky skin is just not cute. Exfoliation is also important in the fight against fine lines and wrinkles, something I already have to deal with. I got some samples of this product and was really wowed by it. I noticed immediate improvements in the texture of my skin and a reduction of hyperpigmentation which has plagued me all my life. Although other AHAs have caused excess dryness, this DE serum actually made my skin feel more hydrated! Let me be the first to say that a $90 serum is not a necessity. It’s clearly a luxury item. For me, however, it’s important to listen to my skin and buy what works for it due to the sensitivity I have to deal with. This product is 1 ounce, which is standard. I only use it twice a week, though, so I expect it to last quite a while.
  4. Mario Badescue Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater. I have had this sample bottle for a while but started using it more recently to add some additional hydration to my skincare routine. The spray contains aloe and rosewater, both of which nourish skin and help calm irritation. I have noticed an improvement in my skin since I started using it. It also works as an excellent substitute for MAC Fix+ when setting makeup! As you can see, I’m almost out so I’ll be purchasing a full-size bottle soon, which is only $7. What an amazing deal!
  5. Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette. Everyone and their mother has been lusting after this palette since before it launched! I was fortunate enough to get my hands on it and have been in love ever since. The formula is great, the colors are amazing, and it smells amazing. This palette will be perfect for creating some warm looks for spring and summer. I hope Too Faced makes this palette permanent so everyone can get one! (P.S.: I included a Sweet Peach Palette in my latest Instagram giveaway. Go to my account to learn how to enter!)
  6. Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Crush. Crush is one of the new releases in the ABH liquid lipstick collection. I bought this a few weeks ago from my local Ulta when I was testing out the new shades. Crush is the perfect pinky nude lip for me. It applies smoothly and dries down to a transfer-free finish. I’ve dealt with some inconsistencies in the ABH formula in the past, but this one looks like a very solid product. I hope to buy more of the new colors soon!
  7. Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Cream Bronzer. The Soleil Tan de Chanel bronzer is one of Chanel’s most popular products. I bought this recently because I was still on the hunt for the perfect bronzer, but I think my search has finally ended! At $50, this product is pricey. But since you get a full ounce of product, this makes it a better deal than the Too Faced bronzer I discussed in my February favorites post, which weighs in at 0.35 ounces. I used my Wet N Wild Large Stippling brush to apply Soleil Tan and it went on seamlessly. It is pigmented but easy to control and very buildable. It adds the perfect amount of warmth to my complexion, making this a new staple in my routine and another great product for spring and summer.

That concludes my list of favorites for April! What were yours? Let me know in the comments below ❤

Anastasia Beverly Hills Gleam Glow Kit!

Hey everyone! I hope you’re all having an awesome week. I recently picked up one of the new Glow Kits by Anastasia Beverly Hills. I bought Gleam, which is the peachy-pink Kit.

anastasia beverly hills gleam glow kit

The Glow Kits consist of four 0.26-ounce powder highlighters (an ABH Illuminator is 0.32oz). So you basically get four full-size highlighters for $40! It’s a crazy good deal. The Kits offer a wide variety in shades, which make them work for a ton of different skintones, especially WOC. Not many brands make highlights that work for deeper skintones; I think it’s great that ABH took these steps to make a shade for everyone!

anastasia beverly hills gleam glow kit finger swatches

anastasia beverly hills gleam glow kit swatches crushed pearl starburst mimosa hard candy

The Glow Kit powders are super creamy and pigmented! The texture reminds me a lot of the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors, my favorite formula. Gleam offers Crushed Pearl, a pinky-silver with a crystalized finish; Starburst, cool pink with an iridescent finish; Hard Candy, a golden peach with a pink pearl duochrome finish; and Mimosa, a deep golden peach with a metallic finish.

On my skintone, Crushed Pearl and Starburst look really similar, but all the shades work really well with my skintone. Although Hard Candy and Mimosa are too dark for me to highlight with, I can use them as a blush and bronzer, respectively, or I can mix them with Crushed Pearl or Starburst to create a bunch of different shades to use. The shades are easy to control on application and apply and blend out effortlessly.

Overall, I love the Glow Kits! I think they’re a great way to try out a lot of different highlighters without breaking the bank. The formula is awesome, the color payoff is grand, and they get bonus points for being WOC-friendly.

Do you guys have either of the Glow Kits? How much do you love them? Let me know in the comments below. ❤
