Happy Saturday, everyone! I hope you’re all having a great weekend. I ordered the Kylie Cosmetics Metal Matte Liquid Lipsticks as soon as they launched on the site. I watched for them all day because, as you know, everything Kylie launches sells out in minutes! I was able to snag Heir and Reign, my two favorite shades. I was so excited when they were delivered yesterday evening! Kylie has definitely improved the turnaround and shipping time since her very first launch. It took exactly 1 week for them to arrive.
Aren’t the colors beautiful?! Heir is a beautiful rose gold nude and Reign is a brownish burgundy. The formula is on the thin side. It’s a lot more watery than the matte liquid lipsticks offered by Kylie. To be honest, when I pulled the doe foot out of the tube, I was afraid it would drip off the end!
The formula is very smooth, but nowhere near as opaque as the matte liquid lipsticks, which is a real letdown. I found that I had to apply two coats to get even pigmentation, as the first coat goes on a little streaky. Heir looked much more flattering with the Koko K liner underneath it.
Here are some lip swatches! I included pictures in both indoor and outdoor light to show out the colors look in both instances.

The products are also not technically matte because they do not dry to a transfer-proof finish and remain slightly tacky on the lips. The finish actually reminds me of the Colourpop Ultra Satin Lipsticks. I think the name Metal Matte is a little bit misleading due to this.
While some people wouldn’t mind the tacky feeling or the fact that it transfers, I personally do not want to deal with those issues. I feel like when you’re wearing a unique color, you have to do it with confidence and it needs to look A1 at all times. I don’t want to be afraid it’s uneven or feathering while I’m out and about doin’ my thing.
I applaud Kylie for releasing products that are popular and what consumers are craving, but I feel like there are a few issues with the Metal Matte Liquid Lipsticks, like there were with her Lip Gloss collection, that should have been resolved before releasing them for sale to the public.
Has anyone else tried the Metal Mattes? What did you think of them? Let me know in the comments ❤
