Review – Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Effect Foundation

Hey everyone! Lately, I’ve really been into sampling new products from the drugstore. Everyone’s been releasing so many cool things lately and I can’t help but want to try them all!

One of my friends suggested that I try out the Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush foundation. She said it was one of her HGs because it made her skin look absolutely flawless. Granted, she has oily skin, while mine is very dry, but I decided to try it anyway after hearing so many glowing remarks from her.

Since I was at CVS and there were no testers available, I guessed and grabbed the lightest shade, 001 Ivory, since it looked more pink-toned than shade 002. It’s your standard 1 ounce foundation bottle and it comes with a pump, which is a definite plus for me. The foundation itself is liquidy, but not to the point where it runs and creates a mess.

Sadly, Ivory is just a tad too dark for me. I think it would be better suited as a summer foundation for me, when I’m slightly darker! The finish is satin/matte on me, which can be a little drying for those with dry skintypes.

The main test, however, is whether or not is leaves the user looking truly “airbrushed.” I tried it over bare, moisturized skin and also over my YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer (great for smoothing texture and minimizing large pores) and in both instances it did help minimize the look of fine lines and pores on my face. Of course, it performed better over the YSL primer, but I would wear it over bare skin as well.

The finish does make this a little too drying for me during the winter, when I basically have to marinate in moisturizers and serums! However, n the summer I don’t think I would have any issues with hydration. Normal or oily skintypes would likely not find this foundation too drying, unless they simply have a preference for luminous finishes.

I will have to try adding a drop of oil to it or mix in other foundations to see if that changes anything, but I will definitely keep playing with this in the future!

What is your HG drugstore foundation? Are there any others that I absolutely have to test out? Let me know in the comments! ❀
