Since the Sephora sale was this past weekend, I decided to buy some things for myself and a gift or two. 20% off all purchases is nothing to sneeze at, and I have to admit I went a little ham. Ulta was also having a really great promo, 200 bonus points on a purchase of $45 or more, so I got a few things that I’d been wanting from there as well! Here’s the full haul:
From Sephora, I got: Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Palette, Fresh Seaberry Skin Nutrition Booster, Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer, Boscia Supercharge Overnight Moisture, Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S. Serum, and the Boscia Sake Treatment Water. I also redeemed some points to get the 500-point YSL set, a deluxe-sized MUFE HD Loose Powder, and a deluxe-sized Glamglow Flashmud Treatment. I’ve been wanting to try the MUFE Loose Powder for a while, so I had to jump on these point perks. The YSL set contains deluxe-sized mascara, Touche Eclat Blur Primer, Tint-in-Oil, and Black Opium perfume. The Blur Primer is one of my HGs, but I am really excited to try the other products!
I ended up placing two orders, so in the second one I added the Playful Perks sample bag rather than the 20% off Rouge code. It has a ton of samples in it, including NARS Audacious mascara, Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray, Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara, Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser Invisible Oil, Stella McCartney perfume, Sephora Oil Infusion in Bubbly Grenadine, Glamglow ThirstyCleanse Hydrating Cleanser, and Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm. This sample bag was available with only a $25 purchase, so I think it’s a pretty great deal. You get to try so many different products!
From Ulta, I got: Becca Backlight Priming Filter, NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks in Sandstorm and Tea & Cookies.
I’ve already tried several samples of the skincare products by Boscia and Fresh, so I’m expecting to really like them! The Caudalie Vinosource serum is one of my HGs. It’s so moisturizing and works really great with my sensitive skin. I’ve also tried a couple samples of the Becca primer, so I’m really pumped to dive into the full size. It makes my skin looks so luminous and amazing!
The Kat Von D Palette, NYX lipsticks, and Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer were all impulse purchases. I decided to try them all tonight to see what I thought. As for the Kat Von D Palette, I love it so far! The design of the palette is really cool and there are so many colors! It’s a great palette to add to your collection if you’re a color junkie or if you’re like me and have a ton of neutral palettes and want to add a little variety to your looks. I’m really impressed with the shadow formula—it’s very buttery, soft, and extremely pigmented. There is a good mix of matte and shimmer shadows, as well as neutrals, so you can totally do a cohesive eye look using just this palette.
The Kevyn Aucoin SSE and NYX lipsticks, however, are not keepers for me. I picked the wrong shade for the SSE, so it was much too fair. The formula is extremely thick and can be used as a concealer, highlighter, or as a foundation. It didn’t work with my moisturizer when I tried to mix it, and looked extremely cakey when I applied it straight to my skin, so this will definitely be returned the next time I go to Sephora.
The NYX lipsticks were okay. They have a very creamy formula that is easy to work with, but they don’t dry down matte like I expected them to. They just stay tacky on the lips, which bugs me to death. I know plenty of other people who love this lipstick formula, but it’s just not for me. Sandstorm, a tan-nude, isn’t a bad color. It reminds me a lot of a slightly darker KVD’s Bow N Arrow. I’m not feeling Tea & Cookies, though, as I’m not into baby pink colors. It also took a few layers to look completely opaque, so it felt… gunky on my lips.
All in all, I think this was a pretty successful haul! I can’t wait to start using all my new things. Did you guys pick up anything during the Rouge sale? Let me know what you got in the comments! ❤
That loose powder was a deluxe sample? I didn’t see it!

Thanks! ☺️ It is for me too unfortunately. At least Ulta’s return policy is lenient so you can return things when they don’t work out!

So true! CVS is like that too. And younique (which I sell) but I’m not sure if sephora is like that. Target it seems to depend on each store. Well, better luck on next haul of nyx!! 🙂

This is going to sound crazy but I stumbled on your blog and we have the same bottom face. I saw your lip swatches and literally thought “Why are my lips on a blog?” Above the nose is different but our jaws, chins, mouths are very close! Great Blog! 🙂
